Try-it
If you are interested in trying out Speed Skating, please email communication@banffcanmorespeedskating.ca
We have try-it nights scheduled from 5:15 to 6:15 on:
- Wednesday, January 14th, 2026
- Wednesday, February 11th, 2026
- Wednesday, February 18th, 2026
Participants must be at least 6 years old and able to skate unassisted and have basic skating skills, including gliding and stopping on any type of skates (i.e. hockey, figure skates, etc.) Families and adults are welcome to come out too!
The free on-ice session includes coaching and speed skate rental.
Please come 15 minutes early to get your skates and protective equipment fitted.
Parents are required to stay at the arena during the sessions when their child is skating, in order to provide rink-side support and in case of emergency.
What Should I Bring/Wear?
- Sport helmet (i.e. bike, hockey, ski or snowboard)
- Glasses
- Leather gloves or thick winter ski gloves
- Neck guard with bib (from hockey) – We have some spares if needed
- Long sleeve shirt and jacket or fleece
- Long pants
- Layer clothing
- Soft knee pads (i.e. bike or volleyball) – We have some spares if needed
The club has some spare helmets and safety glasses and other equipment if needed.
